Brooklyn’s Dreamers
Who are Brooklyn's Dreamers?
Dreamers are the young patrons group of Theatre for a New Audience. They are connecting the Theatre to our new neighbors—the vibrant, diverse community of Downtown Brooklyn—and helping to raise funds to build our first permanent home, a stunning Hugh Hardy-designed Elizabethan courtyard theatre in the heart of the BAM Cultural District in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
If you are engaged in your community, care about Brooklyn’s dynamic cultural landscape, like theatre and would like to meet others who are interested in the same things, join! You’ll meet and network with fun, interesting people, help bring great theatre to Brooklyn, and be a part of the revitalization of Downtown Brooklyn and the expansion of arts and culture in New York City.
What the Dreamers are up to
- During the Theatre’s performance season, Brooklyn’s Dreamers are offered reduced-rate tickets to our productions, paired with exclusive events to meet and mingle with the actors, directors, and other members of the production’s creative team.
- We’ve hosted joint events with neighboring arts and cultural organizations, such as MoCADA and Irondale Ensemble Project—parties that bring together music, art, and members of our future community. Check out photos from our 2010 event at Deity Supperclub, our 2009 event with Irondale, our 2008 event at Forte Condos, and our 2006 event at Pochron Studios in Dumbo.
How do I join?
Being a Dreamer requires enthusiasm and creative ideas but not a lot of time. Here’s what you can do:
- Sign up for our mailing list, and receive the Theatre’s monthly Newsletter, monthly Brooklyn’s Dreamers Extra, and invitations to Dreamer events.
- Email Capital Associate Lizzie O’Hara with your ideas for events or collaborations—a community event at a local gallery, participating in public events in Brooklyn, events with other theatres, museums, etc.
- Come to our next event, get to know us, and tell your friends!
