Theatre for a New Audience’s new humanities programming has a solid foundation with the establishment of a distinguished Council of Scholars. The Council is made up of five prominent scholars who will have a fundamental role in advising the Theatre’s artistic and education leadership. Through critical essays, talkbacks, and the development of broader public humanities programs, their insights and perspectives will provide opportunities for audiences to explore the Theatre’s work in historical and contemporary contexts that deepen and extend discussions beyond the stage.
Council Members for the 2012-2013 season are James Shapiro from Columbia University (Council Chair), Jonathan Kalb from Hunter College (who also serves as our Literary Advisor), Richard McCoy from Queens College and the Graduate Center at CUNY, Gail Kern Paster, Director Emeritus of the Folger Shakespeare Library, and Tanya Pollard from Brooklyn College and the Graduate Center at CUNY.
