The Theatre is thrilled to announce that The National Endowment for the Humanities has awarded us a $500,000 Challenge Grant to support a major expansion of the Theatre’s humanities activities.
New programs will include lectures, seminars, workshops, and other activities for artists, scholars, adults, students and families, as well as new publications and web content, an expanded rehearsal program, and enhancements to our public school education programs. Most excitingly, the grant allows us to launch a special series of free public programs in Brooklyn starting in spring 2012, before we’ve even moved in! It’s that important to us to connect with our new community.
In order to claim this Challenge grant, we need to match it 3-to-1 with additional endowment funds, so the grant will actually leverage an additional $1.5 million for a total of $2 million. Please stay tuned for updates on our programs and fundraising progress.
