On December 1st, Theatre for a New Audience’s annual Producers Circle Reception was hosted by Board Member Robert Ascheim and his wife Mary in their home. The forty guests included members of the Theatre’s premier donor society, the Producers Circle, and several of the Theatre’s Board Members.
The evening’s special guests were Obie Award-winning actor John Douglas Thompson and Theatre for a New Audience Associate Artistic Director Arin Arbus. Thompson last appeared in the title role of the Theatre’s production of Macbeth in 2011, directed by Arbus. They also collaborated on the Theatre’s 2009 production of Othello.
After the guests enjoyed informal conversation, beverages and hors-d’oeuvres, Thompson and Arbus were interviewed by Founding Artistic Director Jeffrey Horowitz. They related how they came to their careers in theatre, and shared stories from the productions of Othello and Macbeth. They also gave insights into their artistic vision and methods. Following the interview, a lively discussion ensued with all the guests. To see more photos from the event, click here.
