Kate Forbes and John Douglas Thompson Receive Callaway Awards

At a January 8 ceremony, The Actors’ Equity Foundation presented the Joe A. Callaway Awards to Kate Forbes and John Douglas Thompson.

The Callaway Award, honoring “the best performances in a professional production of a classic play (one written prior to 1920) in the New York metropolitan area,” was bestowed upon Forbes for her work in Theatre for a New Audience’s Othello and Thompson for his performances in Othello and Irish Repertory Theatre’s The Emperor Jones.√Ǭ†The Theatre’s Artistic Director Jeffrey Horowitz accepted the award on behalf of Forbes who was unable to attend due to a prior commitment.

Also honored was David Pittu,√Ǭ†with the St. Clair Bayfield Award, for his comedic turn in the Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night.
