Theatre for a New Audience had its official Groundbreaking  and Design Unveiling Celebration today!  Celebrating with us and speaking at the event were First Deputy Mayor Patricia E. Harris;  Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz; Seth Pinsky, President, New York City Economic Development Corporation; Geoff Lynch, Partner at H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture; Julie Taymor and Mark Rylance.  Attendees included supporters and artists who have worked with Theatre for a New Audience over its 32-year history.
Founding Artistic Director Jeffrey Horowitz’s vision of a destination theatre for Shakespeare and classic drama is finally coming true!  The Theatre started construction on its first home in April of this year.  Completion is expected in April 2013.  The Theatre’s inaugural production will be directed by Julie Taymor. This will be the fifth production that Taymor has directed for Theatre for a New Audience in her 27-year association with the Theatre.
We look forward to keeping you posted on the progress of our new home.  Check back for updates!
