Edward Bond visits New York
During the rehearsals for Chair, playwright Edward Bond will visit New York to work with director Robert Woodruff and the cast. Bond’s 1965 play Saved was the last play in England banned by the government censor, the Lord Chamberlain. The censorship of Saved caused protests, and theatre censorship was soon abolished. Listed by The Royal National Theatre as one of the 100 best plays of the 20th Century, Saved was produced by Theatre for a New Audience in 2001. Directed by Robert Woodruff, it was the first time the play was seen in New York in 30 years.
