Brooklyn’s Dreamers Hit the District

Outside view of the Theatre for a New Audience

In November, the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) and Brooklyn√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Dreamers co-hosted an exciting event in MoCADA√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s gorgeous new space. Formerly housed in a Bed-Stuy brownstone, MoCADA is one of the earliest new arrivals in the BAM Cultural District. The mood was lively as members of both organizations mingled, f√ɬ™ted and viewed MoCADA√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s moving exhibit – Tom Feeling√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Middle Passage: White Ships, Black Cargo.

What made this evening truly exceptional was that it marked the inaugural collaboration between Brooklyn’s Dreamers and a Cultural District resident.
Amid the festive atmosphere, MoCADA’s Founding Director, Laurie Cumbo, and TFANA’s Founding Artistic Director, Jeffrey Horowitz, introduced their respective organizations and shared their excitement for the growth of the Cultural District.
