 
 
 
In Theatre for a New Audience’s 2008-2009 season, Heavyweights, we present four great dramas by three extraordinary authors: Shakespeare, Dostoyevsky, and Edward Bond. The plays explore power, marriage and family, good and evil, and God and humanity.
The ambitious season opens with the New York premi√ɬ®re of C.I.C.T./Th√ɬ©√ɬ¢tre des Bouffes Du Nord’s production of The Grand Inquisitor directed by renowned theatre artist Peter Brook, co-presented with New York Theatre Workshop. The play was adapted from Dostoyevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov by Marie-H√ɬ©l√ɬ®ne Estienne and features Bruce Myers in the title role.
Following is another New York premi√ɬ®re: Edward Bond’s Chair, featuring Stephanie Roth Haberle and directed by Robert Woodruff, former Artistic Director of the American Repertory Theatre (A.R.T.), and director of our production of Bond√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Saved in 2001.
The Theatre will then present Othello directed by Arin Arbus, our Associate Artistic Director and 2008 Princess Grace Award-winner (The Grace LeVine Theater Award).
The season will culminate with a new production of Hamlet, directed by David Esbjornson, former artistic director of the Classic Stage Company and current artistic director of Seattle Repertory Theatre, and featuring Christian Camargo, who appeared in the title role of our acclaimed 2005 production of Coriolanus.
