Disassembling Hamlet
Disassembling Hamlet
Description
Saturday, April 4 at 4pm
Chela De Ferrari reveals the creative process of Teatro La Plaza’s Hamlet, an "extra free" adaptation of Shakespeare's play which she wrote and directed based on the ideas, interests and demands of the eight actors and actresses with Down syndrome who star in the production. In this presentation, the director welcomes us into the intimacy of the rehearsal room to learn about the discoveries and challenges of more than a year of work: from the conversation that gave rise to the project through the cast’s approach to conducting and confronting research. For anyone who has seen this production, “Disassembling Hamlet” offers a fascinating look at the connections woven by this Peruvian company between their lives and the English language’s most famous play.
